A new Landmark in Wellington
"I've had my own building company, ReCreations, for 13 years and quality has always been a priority for us. So when I started looking for a franchise, the choice of Landmark was pretty easy."
For his Landmark show home Braden has chosen to use quality products throughout – from the Jenkin A-lign cladding covering the exterior to the lush cut pile Eco Strand carpets throughout the interior.
"This is the third time I have used Jenkin A-lign on a house, but it is the first time I have used the complete system," Braden says. "It's really a premium product. With the paint system the finish is very good. You really can't fault it visually."
"The pre-cut elements, and the use of the scribers for the story rods reduces labour inputs while contributing to the overall quality of the finish. It's still a bit more expensive, so it's not for every job."
Braden has been interested to see the reaction from clients as the show home has gone up.
"I've had a really good response. Timber in the last two to three years has become more popular. With the leaky homes issue, people are returning to the tried and true. They're prepared to go away from using dark colours on the exterior in order to use timber weatherboards. There has been quite a shift."
Sub-contractors were also interested in seeing this exceptional timber home take shape.
"They liked being involved in a whole build of a house with a nice traditional look, that is nicely specced and finished. We've got level entry tiled showers, there is plenty of light coming in, gas radiator heaters throughout, lots of insulation, double glazing. It's the whole package."
