Fixing Rates (Estimates Only)
Using the Jenkin A-lign System and associated components can significantly reduce labour costs on site. Builders that have used Jenkin A-lign suggest the following relative fixing cost estimates:
Fibre cement (cutting scribers, fitting soakers or box corners) - $50m2
Standard Timber Weatherboards (cutting scribers, fitting soakers or box corners) - $40m2
Jenkin A-lign System (installing Jenkin A-lign system installation) - $32 to $35m2
As builders become more experienced in using Jenkin A-lign the cost of fixing A-lign may reduce further.
Design
System drawings are downloadable from our website, www.jenkin.co.nz. These can be used in "Drag & Drop" by architects, specifiers and quantity surveyors which contributes to the economics of the design and consent process.
Consents
As Jenkin A-lign is BRANZ Appraised and New Zealand Building Code-compliant, this should help speed up the consent process through council.
Set-Out
The set-out guides in our technical manuals mean that designers can place joinery in a position that aligns the head flashing with a full weatherboard profile. Head flashing details are also provided for most situations. Should there be a detail that you need to use that's not included in the technical manual then we can work with BRANZ to find an alternative solution.
Treatment/Primer
Jenkin A-lign Concealed Fix weatherboards are treated with the proven LOSP H3.1 treatment system and have a two-coat factory applied oil based paint primer and undercoat system. For cut ends, Jenkin End Seal, an aerosol spray that combines a treatment and primer is available. This easy to apply system seals the ends of all cut surfaces. The aerosol Jenkin end seal has also been BRANZ Appraised. The premium Jenkin A-lign primer and undercoat system has been specifically formulated for application over LOSP treated timber and is able to be over coated with any brand of 100% premium acrylic exterior house paint. The primer and undercoat system has a Light Reflective Value (LRV) of 45% or greater which limits solar heat build up and it is easily over painted with premium top coats.
Primer Quality
The premium coloured primer and undercoat has been specifically formulated for application over LOSP treated timber and is able to be over-coated with any brand of 100% premium acrylic or oil-based exterior house paint. The A-lign primer has a Light Reflective Value (LRV) of 77 which limits solar heat build up.
Wastage
As our Jenkin A-lign boards are 142mm x 18mm & 187mm x 18mm, this provides an extra 5% cover over the standard 135mm and 180mm widths. With standard available lengths of 6.1 m and 7.2 m, this can reduce cutting wastage by up to 5%.
